I didn't see a Minnesota-related forum on here, so I thought I'd start one....

I figure in this economy, we need all the discount golf we can get....so I figure this forum might be a good way to let Fellow Minnesotans know what kind of deals there are out this season.... A good place to start is the Minnesota Golfer magazine..... There's tons of coupons for 2-for-1's and the like....

Also, since I know we are all looking for new and exciting places to play, this could be a good outlet to let others know what "Hidden Gems" are out there.... My personal recommendation is Minnewaska Golf Club in Glenwood....

Keep 'er straight and long (That's what she said)

i've been playing Stonebrooke in Shakopee..$42 with a cart before 9AM and after 3PM during the week. They have the course in nice shape, better bring your good putter, though.

Have also played Boulder Pointe in Elko (bulldoze 18 and start over!), Creak's Bend in New Prauge and Crystal Lake in Lakeville...all nice tracks. They even have some deals at The Meadows at Mystic Lake -- get a punch card - first round is $85, 2nd is $75 and so on...by the time you're done, you average $55/round with card and range balls.

I play CreeksBend quite a bit..... Of course, it helps that I work there part time!

I'm a big fan of a couple courses down in Hastings.....Bellwood Oaks and Hidden Greens. It's a bit of a drive to get down there, but the courses are challenging, well maintained and affordable. Just bring a lot of balls to Hidden Greens, it should be renamed Hidden Fairways!

Played Creeks Bend a lot last year...really enjoyed it. Green on 11 is a mother! The entire back 9 is no picnic....got a membership as Stonebook so that's been home this year. Never played Hidden Greens...might have to give it a try. Played Willinger's once a couple of years ago...windy day, didn't play well.

KOOL 108 has half-off deals on their website....

I'm curious....Since you play Stonebrooke a lot, what do you think of the 8th hole? I've heard everything from glorious to gimmick. Personally, I lean towards gimmick.....But it's entertaining hole nonetheless.... I just wouldn't want to have to play that hole to stay alive in a match play.....

I like the 8th...if you replaced the water with grass the tee shots no big deal...but the first few times I played it definitely messed with my head. Now I find the second shot tougher...long, narrow green with the pond back left...depending on pin placement it's anywhere from a gap wedge to an 8 iron!

The 7th from the blacks or blues is a great hole...and 7-8-9 is a slick way to wrap up the front 9 (although they use it as the back 9 during the week).

I guess anytime you use water like that, the hole is pretty gimmicky...but the boat ride is kinda fun!

i've found some pretty good deals on golfnow, the only problem is most of the courses are about 45 minutes to an hour outside of the twin cities.

if anyone knows of any deals particularly in the north or northwest metro let me know

Finally broke 80!!

Been flirting with it at Stonebrooke for a while, but finally broke 80 this morning -- barely! 37 on the front, 42 on the back -- bogied last 4 holes to just sneak in. No blow-up holes, and only 1 penalty shot (on first hole).

Yippee!!!
