Anyone have any thoughts on Le Golf National outside Paris winning the bid to host the 2018 Ryder Cup? Although Spain would have been the emotional choice in view of Seve's passing, I think the European PGA were right to give it to a new country. But based on the contribution of each European PGA to the team since 1979, I just think it's a shame that Sweden withdrew from the bidding - with 9 Swedish golfers having represented Europe, they have a much stronger claim than France (2) or Germany (2). With both of France's representatives (Levet and van der Velde) being one-hit wonders, it's not really a country with golf in its blood. Let's hope their organisational skills justify the European PGA's faith.

Plus what kind of a stupid name for a course is "Le Golf National"? ;-)

Spain would have been a nice tribute.

You know the saying "when you have nothing nice to say don't say anything" well it applies here!

They played the Ryder Cup at Seve's course in 1997. By the time 2018 rolls around, Seve, unfortunately, will be old news.

That guy that was 2nd at the US Open last year was French, Havret or something. France may not be a hot bed of golf but hosting a massive international even like the Ryder Cup could bring new interest.

Good for France. Those folks need an image-builder other than their presidential candidates running naked with boners through hotel rooms chasing maids.

I'm glad it didn't go to Spain. Doesn't have anything to do with Seve, I just thought since it hosted it in 1997 and England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales host every single other one a new place was needed. Don't like the France move though. Something about the French just bothers me. It started with this and came to a great end. Went from @#$% you to TAKE THAT @#$%&! in a second. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v..

It'd be nice if France supplied all 12 golfers on the European team. USA might have a chance against 12 Van de Chokes.
