Luke was right about the 24 or 48 hours enamel needs to cure ... is cure the right word? Dry completely. Use those words. And it's 48 hours, isn't it?

I added some enamel to my putter Monday night, then took the putter out Tuesday morning for 18, and in that 100-degree heat, the new enamel stood no chance. It had about 12 hours of drying time. It needed much, much more.

So if you're considering using enamel for paint fill (and I say you should), the experts aren't kidding when they say enamel needs a couple days to dry thoroughly.

Yeah cure is the right word, enamel is very durable but yes it does take at least 2 days to harden up.

My second attempt at using enamel worked better. I gave it more time to cure and even shoved the putter head with the new paint on it into my freezer for a few minutes at a time to help battle the crazy Texas heat we've had this summer.

It's not a perfect job, but it looks better than the acrylic.

I'll probably touch it up this winter.

And btw, if anybody knows where to find true navy blue enamel, holler at me.

Testors' dark blue looks good, but it lightens up quite a bit when it dries. I'd like to find some that looks darker.
