The 6-iron from the bunker and walk-off birdie putt was awesome. I hated seeing Kyle Stanley not get a win, but he's got time. Stricker needs to stop messing around and win a major! He's too good not to sack one away.

Before this tournament I was kinda saying to myself, "Boy we really haven't seen any shots that define an event." By that I mean in past years up to this point we had the Mickelson at 13 at Augusta, the Woods improbable shots on Saturday and Sunday at Torrey, the Yang chip in and hybrid over the tree, or stuff like that. Only thing close to it were Schwartzel's early hole outs and 4 birdie finish, but it wasn't defining the way the other ones were. Now granted this was the John Deere Classic. Not a major, but if it was say the PGA or US Open it would go down as maybe 2 of the greatest shots in major history. Again, only problem was it was the John Deere Classic and over a guy named Kyle Stanley. PGA and over maybe McIlroy it's an instant classic. Like you said let's make it a major now. Before the win I thought this was Stricker's best shot to win a major, so maybe he'll finally break through this week.

I'd love to see him win, but I bet he misses the cut due to the inevitable emotional let-down.

Stricker is 44 and looks in good shape, so he ought to have a full run up to 50 on the tour. He's not super long, but he's long enough off the tee to remain competitive for 5-6 more years.

Apparently length isn't the be-all-end-all for Stricker's game. Or in golf for that matter (to me). He leads the Tour in scoring average and strokes gained putting.

I guess the old saying of "drive for show and putt for dough" is key to his success. As it should be.

Most of the guys near the top of driving distance have not won this year on Tour. Except Gerry "Bubba" Watson.

But the guys in the top of scoring average have been winning; obviously.

Hitting it far does not always equal success in tournaments.

Stricker to me (as of right now) may be the best chance Americans have to win a major.

Stricker's possibly the best putter on tour right now ... certainly in the top 10.

If he could be the best putter this week, he'd have a shot.
