I'll call 2017 the season of "attitude"

Worked on

1) the pre-shot routine.
2) playing in the present
3) my expectations, have good time or a great time, never a bad time.
4) perspective over tough shots, "It doesn't matter if I make this shot or miss it, the wife is still going to be ticked off"

Had some great rounds, played with some great guys.

Most tension before a shot was the 1st tee shot at Tobacco Road.

Number 3 is my favorite by far. Probably why I'm not better golfer. Always having a great time and not taking the game serious enough.

Ever since the NGT I've generally been playing as well as I ever have. There was a stretch in the middle of the summer where I felt similarly, but the difference is I know what I'm doing now that's making such a difference, and know to never stray from it. It's probably gonna be another year without an even/under par 18 hole round, which is frustrating, as this is now 5 years I think where that's been the goal and I haven't been able to reach it. Had a couple good shots at it this year, but couldn't quite seal the deal. Jay is certain that 2018 will be the year, and I'm starting to truly believe that for myself.

I have a feeling that sub-par round will come for me when I least expect it.

Age and time restrictions have caused my game to deteriorate but fortunately I can still play and at least for the end of this season I can say I am still have a single digit handicap. Hopefully in 2018 with a wedding behind me and my time restrictions will be somewhat lifted, I can return to a weekly golf outing and maybe even return to some senior amateur competitions.

The attitude is definitely the key but self belief needs to be 1a. I set a high expectation for myself when I play well and that’s the key to scoring low. I’m positive COG is gonna have a Par or sub Par round because he has the game for it and up until Sept I don’t think he believed he could. Now he definitely does.

Once I did it, I knew I could do it often. Mike, I think if you keep your expectations at a manageable level, you won’t let your game get down.

My game currently lives and dies with the driver. As I write I am .5 away from my lowest handicap ever (currently a 2.5). When I drive the ball well I go relatively low and when I don’t anything can happen.

Driver - I am Mr. 50/50
Woods- As good as I have ever been
Irons- A bit spotty but fairly reliable
Full wedge Shots - Very Strong
3/4 Wedge Shots - Better than ever
Pitch Shots - Better than ever
Chipping - Not as good as I have been
Putting- Very close to my best ever

Lowest round: 63 which seems like a freaking dream because I haven’t really sniffed an under par since.

Golf in General: A incredible golfing year in which I played Pine Valley, Oakmont, Merion, Cherry Hills and East Lake. Looking to play Seminole, Jupiter Hills and Pasiatempo in the upcoming months.

I usually have sub-par rounds when I add the scorecard wrong. It always washes out when I enter it here though.

I can shoot par every time I go out. Usually by the 15th or 16th hole.......

I seem to add the same way. I go home thinking I played better than I did. Then I enter the score. Oh ya, that's more like it.

2017. Not sure what to say about my game. I have always had a love for the game of golf. But as most of you know, I took a step away from this site and fell off the face of the earth. Priorities, one of them not being golf, have really stepped into my life the past few years. Most of you know I went through a divorce a few years back as well as some personnel problems, multiple surgeries, problems with children and finally the loss of a handful of friends well before their time. It was really a wake up call for me that certain things in my life needed to change. I met a wonderful woman about a year after my divorce and my perspectives as well as my focus on goals in my life really changed. Sure, I still get excited over shooting in the mid 70's, but more important I've realized golf is more about the people you play with, rather than the score you shoot. I was blessed to meet and play a round with JayPet a few months back and hope to do the same with the rest of you sooner than later. Age has taken its toll on my body and some days the pain I experience out weighs the pleasure of the game. But I will keep playing as long as I can for I do love the sport~

I'm glad that you have left a rough part of your life behind you and are moving forward in a positive light. Playing with friends on this site sooner or later is a must. You are one of the people on here that I have always wanted to get together with. Just to give you something to think about. I will be down in the Lauderdale area in January. Maybe we can make something happen. Jay, I will be calling you.
