I don't care much for the term fairway "metal". What do you call it and why? I use fairway wood or 3w, 5w, etc.. because that is historically what the club has been called. Those who use the term fairway metal will argue that it is because the club is no longer made of wood and is now made of metal. If that is the case, for the same reason - please call my JPX 900s - 9 boron, 8 boron, 7 boron or 7 steel, 8 steel - instead of iron since I don't think any clubs are made of iron anymore. |

I call it a wood because "3 wood" rolls off the tongue more easily than "3 metal."

Primarily, iron is an element while steel is an alloy comprising of iron and carbon.

I call it a wood because "3 wood" rolls off the tongue more easily than "3 metal." Jokingly....I'm more relaxed (and I am originally from the south)....drop the "d"...it's a 3 woo... That rolls off the tongue easier. Now, I finna pla som gof! |
